How Long Does a Green Card Last?
Hi, I‘m 17 years old and I am looking to get a Green Card to move to the United States of America. But First I want to ask a few questions to insure that I am doing the right things, and have a full understanding of the process and everything about a Green Card. So far every Green Card Question I have posted on ‘Yahoo! Answers’ have had Great, informative and thorough information that’s also easy to understand.
Now I’m drawing closer to finishing with my Green Card Questions, and have just thought of another Question. Does a Green Card have a Certain amount of time that you have to use it, or is it just there forever. And I don’t mean Can I just work and stuff in USA for this amount of time, I mean If I live in New Zealand, and I got my Green Card in lets say December, can I then move to USA in lets say Early March? or do I have to move in the same Month or year etc. Pleas Help as I REALLY need this Information! Any information will be VERY Appreciated! Thanks!!

You don’t get your green card until you enter the US with an Immigrant visa its then sent you by mail in the following month..the immigrant visa has to be used within 6 months of issue. I have many materials on this website that explain all these details.

Does it mean that if the Country I was BORN in isn’t Eligible to get Green Cards then neither can I?
Please Help as I really need the information! And I would Really Appreciate any Information given (Unless it is a Hate Comment saying something like “We dont want you in our country…” etc. THANKS!

Country of eligibility comes into picture when you apply green card through green card lottery.
Your current country of residence does not affect your eligibility to participate in the green card lottery; however, your country of birth does. You must be born in an eligible country in order to be able to participate in the green card lottery.
The green card regulations provide for special cases such as when you were not born in an eligible country but your spouse were; in such case, you must claim your spouse’s country of birth by indicating so on the Diversity Visa application form. The list of eligible countries for green cards is published by Department of Satte every year as a new Diversity Immigrant Visa Program starts. The list tends to change every year. Countries of origin that have had more than total 50,000 emigrants immigrate to US via the Diversity Visa within last five years will not be eligible for green card lottery.

My girlfriend filled in a form to enter a the green card lottery on the internet , i think it was on yahoo to be honest ,we both live in Spain she is Argentina and i‘m english , to cut a long story short we don’t know how they got our phone No’s and her sisters in Argentina but started calling to tell us to continue in the lottery we have to pay money into a bank account for the next four months and if we don’t we won’t be able to even visit the USA for the next ten years , which i don’t believe , whats more annoying is how did they get our phone No’s and other personal details we didn’t put on the form and is this sort of thing legal ?. So be warned we only did it for fun and dont want to go anyway (full of con men LOL)

It is Oct 3rd 2009 presently. I would like to stay here in the U.S as a Director/Writer/Actor and start my career. How can I either apply for citizenship a green card or a business visa and not have to leave the U.S? Which one should I apply for?
Will I have neough time to get my new visa before my OPT runs out? I would really like to stay here in Los Angeles! Please Help!

You came ,..you got your schooling and training that’s it that’s all that was ever offered you cannot apply for citizenship ..that takes years you are not eligble for a green card You will have to get an employment offer together with a visa ..
